Comparison of oral versus vaginal misoprostol for induction of labour at term

Background: Preinduction cervical ripening has a great influence on induction of labor. For labor various methods are used. Mechanical Foleys catheter with or without extra-amniotic saline. Various pharmacological misoprostol, dinoprostone, and oxytocin.Methods: This was prospective observational study conducted 100 patients 50 in each group the department obstetrics gynecology, Government Medical College, Srinagar from June 2020 to March 2021 over period 9 months. Induction oral misoprostol vaginal done respective groups. parameters noted were delivery interval, number doses needed, mode delivery, fetomaternal outcome.Results: Average 3.84 average 1.90. Mean interval 16 hours 10.94 group. 32% delivered by full-term (FTVD) 18% underwent lower segment caesarean section (LSCS), while as 38% had FTVD only 12% LSCS.Conclusions: Our data supported fact that can be equally effective either route.
